SherpaQuant is designed to unify the workflow, not just add another tool
The core differentiation is not one isolated widget. It is the combination of AI ALPHA ranking, research depth, smart-money context, flow, AI explanation, and portfolio overlays in one shell.

Where we objectively stand against the field
Scored against the top-20 direct competitors across eight objective axes, then adversarially verified by a second pass that refuted inflated or unsourced numbers. SherpaQuant’s composite is 82; the strongest single direct rival, TradingView, scores 73 as a standalone product. We publish where we lead and where we trail.
The honest picture: we lead every direct rival on AI-methodology honesty and quant rigor — a significance-tested score that self-suppresses to IN_VALIDATIONuntil it clears a DSR ≥ 0.95 gate, and publishes its own failures. We’re at parity on data, pricing, and UX, and genuinely behind the terminal leaders on charting depth — the gap we are actively closing.

The proof axis
We publish our failures. The field publishes nothing verifiable.
Across the top-20 direct competitors, a publicly verifiable pentest, threat model, controls attestation, or continuous security gate is essentially absent. Radical transparency is a comparison the field structurally cannot answer — so we make it one.
SherpaQuant publishes
- Continuous LIVE security gates that PROBE the running production DB (gate:migration-applied, gate:live-authz, gate:anon-rls-drift, gate:vendor-liveness) under a 'probe, don't recite / unverified reads as FAIL' assurance protocol - no direct rival exposes anything equivalent to runtime-verified security
- Radical transparency: SQ publishes its OWN security findings and FAILs - a 32-finding pentest ledger (1C/3H/5M/8L/15INFO) including unresolved INFO items and honest BLOCKED_BY_CODE_NOT_DEPLOYED / NEEDS_CREDENTIAL_PROBE statuses - where competitors publish essentially nothing verifiable
- Machine-verified Microsoft STRIDE threat model across 6 trust boundaries (browser->proxy->route->supabase/vendor/redis/stripe), every row citing the code/gate that ENFORCES the mitigation, with revert-to-red proven by threat-model-gate.mjs
- Conformance-by-citation Standards Map tying each dimension to a NAMED external standard (ASVS L2, OWASP API Top-10 2023, STRIDE, PCI-DSS SAQ-A, SOC2 CC6/7/8, WCAG 2.2 AA) with captured, reproducible artifacts rather than marketing claims
- Append-only unified AUDIT_TRAIL with a strict done-definition (a finding is 'done' only at GUARDED = a CI gate would fail on regression), giving evidence integrity and reporting the MECHANISM not a bare exit code
- Least-privilege DB architecture proven live: RLS ENABLE+FORCE on all PII tables, sq_readonly/sq_refresh_writer roles (NOBYPASSRLS, no PII grant on the writer), anon revoked and drift-probed (31 deny tables, 0 anon-readable)
- Honest, self-suppressing posture end-to-end (mirrors the AI-ALPHA IN_VALIDATION discipline): the certification openly states what is code-ready vs live-verified vs GAP, so the transparency itself is a trust differentiator over opaque rival security silence
The direct field publishes
Across the ~20 direct consumer/prosumer rivals (Danelfin, Koyfin, Unusual Whales, TipRanks, Finviz, Simply Wall St, Seeking Alpha, Stock Rover, Trade Ideas, Barchart, Fintel, Quiver Quantitative, Benzinga Pro, WallStreetZen, MarketBeat, YCharts, TrendSpider, Composer, BlackBoxStocks/Cheddar Flow, Atom Finance), publicly verifiable formal security posture is essentially absent. None publish a pentest report, a threat model, a security-controls attestation, or continuous/live security gates; externally visible security is typically limited to a generic privacy policy plus 'we use TLS/encryption' boilerplate. Payment security is, as with SQ, generally delegated to Stripe/hosted checkout (effectively PCI SAQ-A by proxy), which is the one control the field shares. A few larger players may hold SOC2 internally for enterprise/B2B deals, but no verifiable public artifact (SOC2 Type II report, ISO 27001 certificate, bug-bounty scope, pentest summary) is discoverable for the direct-competitor set, so their security is [VERIFY]/unknown from the outside. No competitor cert is asserted here because none is publicly evidenced; the category norm is to publish nothing security-substantive, which makes external comparison impossible on their side and is itself the gap SQ's transparency exploits.
[VERIFY] — unpublished / unverifiable
Our own honest gaps
The same transparency, turned on ourselves — what an auditor would rightly flag.
- No accredited third-party certification: SOC2 is 'readiness-lite' (CC6/7/8 self-assessed), and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 + ISO/IEC 27701 are self-assessed readiness / honest GAP, not certified - all assurance is self-run even if evidenced and reproducible
- GDPR is self-assessed readiness (ROPA/DPIA/COMPLIANCE_MAP authored, DSR export/delete routes wired) but NOT legal-signed - flagged [O] operator/legal-gated, not a formal compliance attestation
- OWASP WSTG and NIST CSF 2.0 are covered only via an ASVS/pentest/STRIDE crosswalk (honest GAP for formal WSTG per-category and a NIST crosswalk), not standalone formal programs
- Demo-stage, not commercialized: Stripe remains TEST mode, so the payments boundary is not live-payment-hardened and PCI SAQ-A live smoke ($1) is deploy-gated, not yet exercised
- Residual hardening openly outstanding: MFA step-up for ADMIN_EMAILS/sensitive routes exists but is NOT wired; CSP still carries 'unsafe-inline' (nonce+strict-dynamic pending); ~79 grandfathered no-tier routes remain to burn down; SLSA build provenance not yet attested
- Operator/data gaps honestly logged: FMP + Quiver vendor keys are 401 (DEGRADED_AUTH, need rotation) and ORATS is absent - these are wiring/procurement gaps, not fabricated as live
- The ASVS L2 verdict is a CONDITIONAL PASS - code meets L2 for every flagged chapter but the LIVE composite only reaches ~87 after the migration applies and operator credential-probes clear; connection-pool role wiring for the least-privilege roles is still an operator step
Rank: #1 / top-decile on security TRANSPARENCY and continuous-assurance among the ~20 direct consumer/prosumer rivals, and MID on formal accredited certification. SQ is effectively best-in-category for what it EVIDENCES and PUBLISHES - a 32-finding pentest ledger, a machine-verified 6-boundary STRIDE model, a named-standards conformance map, an append-only audit trail, and live security gates that probe the running system - none of which any direct competitor (Danelfin, Koyfin, UW, TipRanks, Finviz, Simply Wall St, Seeking Alpha, et al.) publishes at all, so on verifiable posture SQ ranks first by default. On formal accreditation SQ is mid-pack, not ahead: it holds evidenced OWASP ASVS L2 (code ~87, core controls verified live), PCI-DSS SAQ-A, and SOC2/GDPR readiness, but NO accredited SOC2 Type II or ISO 27001/27701 certificate and no independent auditor sign-off - the same un-accredited status as nearly all of its rivals, who simply don't disclose. Net: SQ out-transparents the entire direct field and is materially ahead on demonstrable, live-verified controls, while remaining honestly un-certified and demo-stage - a defensible 'most transparent and most continuously-verified, not yet formally certified' position.
